Chris Chalfant Trio The Chris Chalfant Trio was formed in 1995. This group primarily performs the creative music of Chris Chalfant as well as free improvisation. These musicians come together all with a strong background in classical, jazz and creative music, bringing a unique communication and compelling music. Their CD "All in Good Time" has been met with positive critical acclaim: "Definite creative statement...exciting and absorbing." - Frank Rubolino, Cadence Magazine; "Powerful...a world of its own...a rugged individualist in the tradition of the music's best players." - Chris Kelsey (Liner notes). Other CDs which include the Chris Chalfant Trio are "Love and Light" (Chalfant Sextet with Ken Filiano, Ken Yamazaki, Rob Garcia, Joseph Jarman and Jessica Jones), "The Dojo Band Live at the Knitting Factory 1998" (same as sextet plus Tony Jones), "Vision Festival 2002" (Lifetime Visions Orchestra with Joseph Jarman, Chris Chalfant, directors). Chalfant has also recorded "Convergence" (Noah Howard, Wilber Morris,
Calyer Duncan), and has her works on "Nocturnal Parisian" (Graham
Haynes) and "Mysteries" Bobby Few). The original group is Chris Chalfant,
piano, Ken Yamazaki, drums, percussion and Ken Filiano, bass. Other members
also have included Adam Lane, bass, Lou Garcia, drums, and John McCutcheon,
drums.
